AWP system brings major benefits: increased performance, easier practice and longer lifetime for large sails

• The performance comes from a better airfoil shape with thickness and asymmetry: we compare to the best soft sails on the market.
• Profile thickness is adjustable: it can be inflated on the windward side, the leeward side, or both sides at once. Given that the median is the theoretical profile, we can modify the shape of the profile and obtain a flat or hollow profile according to our needs!
• The performance of ADD Modules compared to rigid wings comes from its ability to twist : A sail’s angle of attack is the angle it forms with the wind … and the wind changes strength (+10% at 10 m) and also direction, depending on its height.

• Aircraft wings are efficient but operate at constant altitude.
• Our wingsail is semi-rigid and allows easier exploitation and handling: for example the wingsail folds in complete autonomy on the folding lines determined during its design.

• The wingsail doesn’t flap which means less fatigue of the components and no stress for sailors. We compared the product lifetime of our wing to that of a soft sail in the fishing industry and, for the same surface area and geometry, our wing lasts 5 times longer.
